Objectives

As China’s innovation ecosystem develops rapidly, Porsche needed to

  • build a deep understanding of China’s digitalization and innovation strategy throughout the company in Germany and China, and
  • drive its innovation strategy in China.

To achieve these goals, MFC designed, planned and implemented two programs for Porsche:

Porsche Digital Immersion 2018:

  • Expose the entire Porsche AG board and other key decision makers within the organization to personally experience China-specific digital trends creating a broad understanding and excitement regarding these cutting-edge developments.
  • Create common understanding between Porsche AG and Porsche China regarding digitalization, which shall enable the local organization (PCN) to lead certain aspects of the group’s innovation strategy. 
  • Leverage Porsche AG top management’s presence to connect Porsche China with local Chinese companies in this sector in order to drive such innovation strategy.

Porsche Innovation Summit 2019:

Building on the success of the China Digital Immersion during the previous year, an extended program was launched to 

  • Strengthen the Porsche Innovator Community
  • Enable key innovators to be inspired by China’s unique innovation ecosystem
  • Co-create between Porsche AG and Porsche China and move the innovation process significantly forward 

Processes

  • Both programs included high-level on-site visits, events and exchanges in China, attended by senior Porsche management. 
  • MFC created and managed the entire process of conceptualization, planning and execution:

Results

  • The entire global Porsche Board and key department heads from HQ delivered standing ovations at the closing event manifesting their full excitement and understanding of the new as well as challenging innovation paradigm for their organization. 
  • Specific Next Steps were identified:
    • developing such significant infusion of opportunities in China (PRC) supported by board endorsement.
    • enabling the entire organization to integrate the newly gained contacts into future innovation projects.
